It has been a while since I have been inspired to put a selection together, and as a fellow member of the lingerie community pointed out to me, it has also been a while since we’ve been graced with a genuinely good lingerie editorial. I have seen outstanding work from many photographers, models, stylists and designers in the past few years but little of that transpired in the glossy pages of mainstream fashion publications. British Vogue came to the rescue at the beginning of the month with its June cover story: a shooting of pop sensation Billie Eilish, wearing femme fatale outfits featuring heavily lingerie inspired pieces by some of my favourite couture houses, photographed by Craig McDean, styled by Dena Giannini with hair by Salon Benjamin, make up by Robert Rumsey, nails by Tammy Tailor and set design by Stefan Beckman. Eilish herself played a big role in the art direction of the shoot and if, like me, you don’t closely follow her, I’d recommend reading the accompanying interview by Laura Snapes to learn more about her vision.
Without further ado, I’ll be sharing the lingerie pieces this shoot brought to my mind. As usual, I tried to make it as size and budget inclusive as possible, with a focus on ethical and smaller brands.
